  Our mother, Kathy, is an educator who’s worked for 20 years as a Speech and Language Pathologist in both the public school system and in private schools.
  She loves music, and as a singer/songwriter, she’s written and performed her own educational children’s songs on her guitar for kids in schools and libraries for over 30 years.
  Helping children learn has always been our mother’s passion -- she even homeschooled her own children. She used to play the guitar and dance and sing together with them. Unfortunately, she was forced to retire due to a stroke she suffered in 2022.
  This stroke has left her unable to use the whole right side of her body (she’s right-handed) or see properly. Our mother can no longer sing or play guitar or dance or write songs or teach. Her whole career, she had worked with students from preschool through high school and had always loved educating, but suddenly, all at once, she couldn’t do anything anymore.
  In order to ensure that our mother’s work continues to help educate children, we - her daughter Meagan, an illustrator, and her son Y. J. - have created Booksong Publishing to turn our mother's children’s songs into children’s books that assist teachers and parents in providing math, language and literacy, and listening comprehension instruction to their young kids. We hope to bring all our mom's songs to you as beautiful educational books that kids will love!
